What are Tiny Homes? (also known as Micro or Compact Homes)

Tiny homes are compact, thoughtfully designed living spaces, usually between 200 and 400 square feet, though they can be tailored to fit your specific needs and purpose. Crafted to optimize every square inch, these ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) provide all the essentials in a space-saving, budget-friendly, and often sustainable package. Known for their minimal environmental impact and versatility, tiny homes are perfect for anyone interested in a simpler lifestyle, an extra guest suite, or a comfortable and affordable getaway.

What are the Benefits of Tiny Homes?

Tiny homes offer several benefits, including lower costs for both initial purchase and long-term upkeep, a smaller environmental footprint thanks to their compact size and reduced resource consumption, and increased flexibility in location and mobility. Many are constructed with eco-friendly materials and often integrate renewable energy options, like solar panels, to further minimize environmental impact.

How Much Do Tiny Homes Typically Cost in Elmira, Fergus, & Alora?

Tiny home prices vary a lot based on factors like size, location, materials, and whether they’re custom-built or pre-fabricated. Typically, a new tiny home costs between $100,000 and $200,000 or more. Local housing markets and availability of land can also impact the price. Be sure to consider all costs, including land, utilities, and any extra features or customizations.

What About Zoning Bylaws?

Most jurisdictions allow tiny homes and/or Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s) anywhere that is zoned for residential use. It is always wise to find out what the bylaws are in the jurisdiction you what to put your tiny home. Executive Compact Homes can take care of everything from start to finish, including permits, site preparation, design, customization, utilities, foundation, and installation. We even make room for full-sized kitchen and laundry appliances.

Can I Rent Out My Tiny Home For Extra Income?

Yes, you can rent out your tiny home for extra income in Fergus, Elmira, Elora and most of  Ontario. As long as it is built to code and is in line with Zoning bylaws. Some jurisdictions have specific rules about short-term or long-term rentals.

How long does it take to build a Tiny Home?

The style of your home will also influence construction time. Custom-built homes average around nine months, while personalized production plans average near seven months. Because the floor plans used by production builders have been built many times before, there are generally fewer delays.

We worked with Richard to plan our pool project. He is always professional and prompt when responding to inquiries, and kept us informed when the project was delayed (due to supplier issues).

Wonderful experience working with Executive Contracting. Richard and his team were fantastic from start to finish. Richard was extremely helpful working with my family in the design and material selection for our backyard project. The workmanship and attention to detail is evident in each of his projects. Richard and his entire team are punctual, extremely hardworking, professional, and polite. Executive Contracting transformed my yard from a pile of dirt and weeds into our backyard oasis that my family will enjoy for years to come. Outcome is beyond expectations. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Executive Contracting for any future project.

I have used Executive Contracting for 3 projects now (driveway, flower beds, and patio). Every project turned out fantastic! I had my own vision of what I wanted but richard also provided some other options and clearly stated why his options had merit. In the end I went with his suggestions and have absolutely no regrets. My driveway pictures are on his website. Feel free to reach out if you're considering Executive Contracting. You won't regret the decision.
Richard completely reno'ed our main bathroom recently and we couldn't be happier -- professional results with a personal touch! His commitment to the job, excellent knowledge and problem-solving skills, and sound advice when making decisions all mean we've found our go-to contractor for future projects. 🙂

A picture is worth a thousand words. We replaced our 32 year old dirty, rotten, pressure treated wood ,wall and flower bed.
Wow what a difference. We wanted to keep the same layout as before but give my wife a bigger flower bed. Richard and the team came through.Richard listened to our needs and made it happen. At first we taught about keeping the old steps, but we listened to him and went with stone. They look great.
I would recommend Richard to anybody. Great job and thank you.
